A 35-year-old Asian man was recently arrested at an airport in the UAE for attempting to smuggle out gold worth AED430,000 by concealing it in his luggage.

The passenger was asked by Sharjah Airport personnel to open his hand-carry baggage after they get suspicious of his behavior.

The man was found in possession of gold jewelry worth hundreds of thousands of dirhams without an invoice proving that he owns them.

When asked to explain how he obtained such a large amount of gold, the Asian man could not provide a convincing answer. He remained silent when asked to provide an invoice for the jewelry.
